WORLD’S GREATEST MOTHER , 2013, (dimensions variable) Mixed media, antique chair, found objects, storybooks, wood, yarn, motorized spool. Fascinated with television from an early age, some of my earliest memories are of sitting in front of a television very much like this one. This piece plays with the idea of watching, gathering, and disseminating information. An image given to me by the writer Harlan Ellison of “The Glass Teat,” in which he describes television as a mother figure for the world.
